Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay (বিভূতিভূষণ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়) is an Indian Bengali writer and novelist. He is also known as the author of “Pather Panchali”.
He was born in Muratipur village, West Bengal in 1894. He finished undergraduate degree with Economics, History and Sanskrit. In 1921, he wrote his first short story "Upekshita". In 1928, he wrote his most famous book “Pather Panchali”. “Pather Panchali” and its sequel “Aparajito” made him one of the most popular Bengali writers. These books have been translated into many languages. “Pather Panchali” is also one of the greatest books in Bengali literature.
He wrote 16 novels and many short stories. Some of his popular books are “Pather Panchali (পথের পাঁচালি)”, “Aparajito (অপরাজিত)”, “Aranyak (আরণ্যক)”, “Ichamati (ইছামতি)”.
